Native's first testnet is officially live, bringing us closer than ever to unlocking Bitcoin's true potential as a programmable, interoperable asset. This isn’t just another testnet—it’s the foundation of something revolutionary for the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Bitcoin is the world's most secure and decentralized asset, yet its programmability and integration with the broader DeFi world is severely limited to custodian solutions. This, essentially, breaks the decentralization paradigm! Native’s mission is to change that. We aim to:

• Make Bitcoin the most capital-efficient asset in DeFi.
• Eliminate barriers such as downloading new wallets, bridging, wrapping and more.

1. Building Validator Infrastructure:

Validators are the backbone of our decentralized infrastructure. During this phase:

• Over 30 validators are helping us test and refine the network.
• We’re monitoring liveness, contributions, and technical stability to ensure the network's resilience and scalability.

2. Preparing for Programmability and Interoperability:

The first testnet sets the stage for Bitcoin-native smart contracts. Once complete, developers will be able to:

• Build dApps directly on Bitcoin using Native’s Zero Trust architecture.
• Tap into Bitcoin liquidity easily.
• Pioneer bringing Bitcoin to every L1 and L2 without compromising on security or decentralization.

Why This Matters

Bitcoin has always been seen as “digital gold,” a store of value—but we believe it can be so much more. Currently less than 1% of the total value in Bitcoin is being used in DeFi, this number is set to be incredibly high, and we want to facilitate this growth by introducing programmability and interoperability.

1. Expanding Validator Participation:

As we prepare for Testnet-2, we’ll onboard even more impactful validators from diverse ecosystems like Cosmos and Tendermint, further strengthening the network.

2. BYield: Unlocking Bitcoin Yield:

Following the testnet, BYield will provide Bitcoin holders with seamless, secure access to yield opportunities. No wrapping, no bridges, no complex yield opportunities—just Bitcoin, made productive.

3. Enabling Smart Contract Development:

The final piece of the puzzle is the Native Smart Contract Layer, allowing developers to build Bitcoin-native dApps that leverage its liquidity, security, and decentralization.
